@ LoisLane looking for Superman
I am doing fine. His death was rather sudden though.
i have been a regular visitor to this site for several years now.
i never really felt the need to set up an account and post...until now.
at the close of yesterdays meeting, an older brother gave the prayer.

so i am getting ready for bed yesterday night and i overhear my teenage son and wife talking about how the evidence of creation far outweighs the evidence of evolution.
i heard my son say that evolution has so many holes and how could something happen from nothing.
i wanted to open the door and ask them both how the creator happened from nothing just to see what they would say..
@ MarkSutter:
Let me tell you something. Even though he is my stepson, my only son, I am the only father he has ever really known. I love him dearly. If you think that I am going to allow him to be completely sucked into this "religion" while I do nothing about it is ridiculous. I wish someone encouraged me to think for myself and to do research at his age! It is not about boundaries, it is about what is right!
If a stepfather knew that his stepson was being molested, should he just look the other way because of the word "step"? Brilliant.
thanks to bu2b and splash who mentioned this quote in another thread!.
but i thought it deserved a thread all of its own, such is the impact of this:.
the very best example of going beyond the things written comes from a 2008 watchtower.
"First we're told not to go beyond what's written, then in the very next sentence they go beyond what is written!!"
Classic!

At this point in my life, I really don’t know what to believe. Maybe there is a “force” out there that created everything. But one thing is for sure: that “force” doesn’t give a s**t about us. All you have to do is look around.
Murder.
Starvation.
Injustice.
Cancer.
Molestation.
I can go on.
What about our "perfect" earth? If this earth is supposed to be so perfect for human life, why are there hurricanes, tornados, earthquakes, floods, tsunamis and extreme temperatures? These things kill people by the tens of thousands every year.
I plan on talking to my son when my wife is not around and tell him not to allow himself to be spoon fed everything that he hears and is taught. It is difficult because he is my stepson and my wife has legal authority in virtually all of the decisions that involve him. I am going to try to encourage him to do his own research and to arrive at his own conclusions.
Wish me luck!
even if you don't regard yourself as a practicing jw, some may view you simply as inactive, a lost sheep, etc.. if you were baptized but not disfellowshipped or disassociated, you may still be a jw---right?
your thoughts please..
i was discussing this topic with two friends of mine, ex jws, a few nights ago.
i think it would be boring after a while.
you can't smoke, have to drink with moderation (difficult in europe with all the wines).
remember when we went to just piano music for the song's at the hall!
it was supposed to be better etc etc!i remember many quietly complaining about the borning piano music, as compared to the orchestra music, and how much more lively and enjoyable it was!
so for 30+ years, the sad borning piano noise was so great!now years later, all of a sudden, orchestra music is coming back, because it is so much more lively, and will make everyone really get into and enjoy it more!flip flops are in season, once again!
here in matthew chapter 19 jesus tells a man the commandments he has to do to gain life... which apparently did not include partaking of his flesh and blood.
so this means that this man could have everlasting life and not partake of the emblems.
they knew not of them.

It's amazing how simple the truth is.
